Also, a lot of the candidates' claims weren't backed up by solid evidence or supported by specific policy, but were more founded in dramatics and desperate grasps for attention. Carly Fiorina, for example, detailed the horrifying scene of a living, breathing fetus that had jut been aborted from the womb to back up her pro-life stance, which was both an incorrect depiction of abortion and a misdirection from the action she would actually take.
I didn't think this debate was very substantive. It had a bit of a Real Housewives vibe to it, as most of the candidates just spent their time bickering and trying to one-up each other. I thought most of this pettiness was generated by Donald Trump, who was of course situated right in the middle of all the candidates. It seemed every other question was "Donald Trump said something offensive about you. How do you respond to that?" The debate seemed less focused on actual policy and more focused on personal quarrels between individual candidates.

I agree with your real housewife comment. I didn't want to hear about all this he said she said that over took the debate regarding trump. I wanted to hear more about the political issues facing our country today. I was though impressed by several of the candidates that did bring good evidence and ideology's to the table. One of these people for me was Carly Fiorina. Despite her extremely not true comment regarding planned parenthood she came out punching. Whenever someone asked her a question she responded directly with intellectually rich comment with evidence and specific plans on how she would solve or deal with the issue. If all the candidates did this I think it would of made for a stronger debate and less housewife drama.
